Still in. I haven't been using any pre shave other than a hot shower and a face wash with my Stirling Barber Shop bath soap and decided to pull out a jar of Proraso that I bought long ago. The results were a very smooth shave with the Blackbird. I may add this to my routine for a while. I've always kinda questioned the need for a pre shave so I'll give a go to see.

Great pairing with the CAD Soap (Palm lathered) and PdP Balm. Actually very good shave as well, the pitfall I’ve found is making sure not to over shave with the cart.

A tub of Proraso Red is on deck once this sample expires; post travel (headed away from the snow tomorrow)…

How do you like the Bic? I picked up a few packs because I have several trips planned for this year. I usually use a Gillette Guard but, ran out of them and thought I’d try the Bic.

Day 17, 54.8% complete

Preshave: Hot washcloth
Lather: Boots Cool Cologne Shaving Cream
Brush: Yaqi 24mm synthetic cashmere
Razor: GC.68 SB, Al Handle, Boots #3
Bowl: Turkish copper
Post-shave: Nivea Balm

The narrow gap Game Changer seems to be a good match for harsher-feeling blades. I got a surprisingly effective DFS out of it.

I've always kinda questioned the need for a pre shave so I'll give a go to see.

Keep us posted. When I was still using canned foam, I liked preshave oils, but that probably says more about the shortcomings of foam (versus lather) than whether oil is good.

Maybe the foam was acting as a "progress marker", and I was really shaving in the thin but slick oil layer.
