Jack Black Product Range

In the pursuit of finding a new facial wash I stumbled across Jack Black products. I know this range doesn't recieve much love on these forums but I would ask some to reconsider. All their products have been excelent so far with some minor issues with their shaving cream, which doesn't live up to my favorite, AoS Lavender. Despite its under performance in comparison to my favorite soap, it still gave a nice shave. But more importantly in my case, it did not give any irritation. I found this the case with all of their products, great for sensitive skin. One more aspect of their line that I like is the fact that you get a lot of product for the money. Now to the point of my post, why is it that these products seem to be frowned upon in the B&B community? (Please note that I do understand that my experience could greatly differ from others, but I haven't found any praise for JB on the forums. I feel that this should be unlikely considering that almost all products have some supporters....even the veg)

I don't recall seeing anyone bashing it as a product, I think it's the price that puts people off. I really like my JB brush, but I feel like it was a bit overpriced.

I heard the brush is pretty cool. I feel as if people are turned off by the fact that their products are not "traditional". Although I don't think that the products are overpriced in comparison to other popular branks (i.e. three T's or AoS)

I tried the "Beard Lube" with a DE and didn't like it at all. Maybe it's meant more for the cartridge razors.

I can't remember the name of the other cream - I think it had "cusion" in it's name, but that one was far better.

The Triple Cushion cream is fantastic. It's 8 oz for 22 bucks. I guess thats a little pricey but the lubrication and the way it allows you to shave with no irritation is incredible. The skin protection this stuff provides is far better than the Mitchells Wool fat soap, which I also own. Some people may not like me saying that but that is my unbiased opinion.

Most of the complaints seem to center around the fact that the lather was sub-standard. They have since changed the formula to improve the lather ability of the product and have since received favorable postings.

I don't know about their shaving cream...

Ha!! Good one!

I used the Supreme Cream Triple Cushion for about six months before the AD's hit me. I think it's great and compares well to my others.

I have a sample of the beard lube, but I haven't tried it. I did get the Post Shave Cooling Gel, but I found it to be too sticky and didn't absorb at all. That's waiting to be returned.

I just stumbled on these. Pretty interesting, but $85 for a synthetic brush seems steep to me too.

The SupremeCream seems like it'd be worth a try. It's priced about the same as other shave creams. can anyone comment on the scent?

I've never trierd their shave products, but I have tried and loved two other products of theirs:

(1) Face moisturizer with SPF--the "ULTA girl" gave me a load of samples and they're great.

(2) Intense therapy lip balm--I have chronic chapped lips and this is bar none the best lib balm I've ever had. It isn't close, and I've tried dozens. :)

I share the same, though undoubtedly unpopular, opinion that the triple cushion cream is better than MWF for me. Gives me less drag/more glide than MWF, and leaves my skin feeling the same post shave.

I've yet to try MWF, so I can't compare.

In my opinion, it has a very pleasant scent. The labeling claims it is fragrance-free, but it smells minty to me -- not as strong as Proraso, though. I have a little sample plastic container I can fill with the supreme cream and mail to you. PM me if you want to try it.
