What's new

I've introduced Luc to the world of fine cigars

Luc was looking for a cigar to smoke on New Years Eve. Being a non smoker he was after something pretty mild. Anyway, I took him down to the cigar shop I go to and had a chat with the proprietor and we came up with a Trinidad Coloniales for him. They are pretty mild but also have a reasonable flavour. I usually get coffee, vanila and even cream flavours from them so hopefully he will enjoy it.

The last time I smoked a cigar on New Year's Eve was in 1999 in Tampa. It was a Cohiba... I think that your post has inspired me to find one for this year.

Thanks again John, it was a great field trip at lunch time!

I got a Partagas (Cuban), Culebras that I've kept in my humidor since last year to smoke and enjoy with two (2) other friends or strangers (who have yet to be named and picked), on this New Years Eve 2010 :w00t:

Aren't these the smokes that cigar rollers are supposed to smoke? That way they know they're not stealing or something...

I've read that too on the history of these crazy  smokes. To add to the fun and 'good-natured ribbing'...you should look on the faces of friends when I open my humidor and they gander inside, without fail...they usually say, "Wow...Dude...these Cigars are twisted. Are they still smokable?"

I no longer smoke cigars - but Partagas was always one of my favorites. Enjoy and Happy New Year. :001_cool:

Those Culebras put a smile on my face - while not my choice to smoke they are a lot of fun and they make great gifts too. I've smoked a number of 'twisted' cigars in Cuba - the burn has always been problematic for me.. but still fun to smoke in any case.
My very favorite Partagas cigars are the Short - followed closely by the Petit Corona.
This New Years I'm going to fire up one of the last few Petit Coronas from 1997 that I have. I'm sad to see that box ending after all these years but - nothing lasts forever.

I had a trial yesterday with a Cohibas cigarillo. I bought a pack of 10 for my other half. We shared one and it was actually nice! Keeping in mind that I'm a non-smoker.

I ate a kiwi fruit after and brush my teeth, tongue and palate. I have very mild residual taste in my mouth but nothing as bad as any previous experiences... That was my big turn off before. I think I'm ready for New Year now!

Partagas Cuban, Romeo Y Julieta Churchills, and Montecristo #2 are some of the best Cubans I've ever collected. Too bad I quit smoking and drinking 8 years ago. Cigars and pipe are fine hobbies, I hope you gentlemen enjoy the new forum:thumbup1:

Excellent Luc!!

I've had a handful of the Trinidad cigars (non cuban) and they were wonderful!

When i complained about the taste in my mouth the first time i had a cigar with my dad. he said "That is why we smoke cigars" :glare:

He was being sarcastic, but the Trinidad should not overload your mouth.

All right, cigar is smoked! I smoked it yesterday (1st Jan) as I just felt asleep on the 31st way too early...

Overall, not too bad experience, it is true that it was a very mild cigar. I think it was a bit too big as I had too much. Unfortunately (or fortunately), I do not think that smoking cigar is for me. I'm quite happy that I was able to try that cigar!

Thanks John!

A friend gave me one for New Year's Eve. I'm not a smoker, either, but I did enjoy it with a few drinks while we brought in the new year.
