What's new

I've finally switched to morning shaving

Since christmas when I started DE shaving (previously I used Gillette Sensor for 20 years) I have been shaving last thing at night. Why? A couple of reasons: firstly because of the time and secondly because shaving at night allowed any redness, rash and cuts to recover over night. Well, having recently discovered the EJ 89L and Feather blades combination the rash, redness and cuts seem to be over. Also I've drastically simplified my prep with no real impact on results. So now I can do a 3 pass plus touch up shave from start to finish in about 12 minutes and achieve total BBS. So last night I decided to leave it and shave this morning. I must say its a lovely way to start the day and I'm very pleased with my decision. I ride a motorbike to work and the feeling of the cold Paris air (only 5 degrees C this morning) on my freshly shaved neck and face is an absolute joy - forget about menthol aftershave!
Anyway, probably a boring post for everyone else but I am excited about it!

I've switched over to morning shaving over the 3 summer months. I do find I get better results in the morning. As winter is approaching, I may go back to night shaving however.

Not boring at all. People like sharing their experiences here with others.

I've shaved at night occasionally just because of a nutty schedule, but I don't like it. I just have too much stubble by late the next afternoon. It's a great way to start the morning, even if you have to be up really early.

I've always found it difficult to explain why, but regardless of razor used over the years (including electrics), I have always got a closer and more comfortable shave in the morning than I can manage at night.

One year in wet shaving (after 10 years of electric razor) and i still do it in the evening - i have much more time for it ( i enjoy shaving, so do not want to rush) and most important - you know the saying "if you love your boss, shave in morning, if you love your wife - in evening" ;)

I'm another one who shaves at night due to time with two young kids and the job. It gives me the time to do it right and it pays off every time.

Tell me about it, we've got a 10 month old and a 3 year old. But I took the decision to get up 15 minutes earlier to accommodate shave time. Its not so bad as I can still get up at 7am and fit in a shave which is not rushed before the household really wakes up and the morning mayhem begins.

I don't think it really matters when you shave. I've found that unless one has super fast growing speed whiskers, that a good shave will last me 2 days. My beard is heavy, but I don't think it grows any faster than anyone else. Of course I'm retired, so I can shave whenever I feel like it, or don't feel like it, and indeed I do. :glare: :001_rolle :bored: :001_rolle
