I've Decided to Buy

Alright, so after the responses to my last thread I decided to take the bait and buy a FP. I came across a Pilot Elite Black and Gold Big Cap on Ebay, and being a complete noob to this world thought I'd get some advice before making the purchase. So, here's the link: http://www.ebay.ca/itm/Pilot-Elite-...n_0&hash=item51a6bfaf2f&_uhb=1#ht_1856wt_1186 and here are the questions:

1) Is this a quality pen and at a good price?
2) How does it compare to the metropolitan and 78g?
3) It says it's Mint NOS from the 70's, will it still function properly?
4) Does anyone know if the vendor is reputable? They have a high rating, but I'm always cautious.

2) How does it compare to the metropolitan and 78g? Looks like it's a few steps up on the quality scale.
3) It says it's Mint NOS from the 70's, will it still function properly? It should work fine. Give it a good flushing out before you load it with ink and there should be no problems.
4) Does anyone know if the vendor is reputable? They have a high rating, but I'm always cautious. I've heard good reports about the seller. I wouldn't be concerned.

Probably your biggest concern will be waiting for delivery...there's been issues with long delays with shipments from the U.S. to Canada.

Shipping is hit or miss but I usually get stuff to up here in less then a week... but you never know

I could be mistaken, but I'm thinking that Pilot is a pocket pen. That's why the cap is so long. I'm almost certain that you'll have to post the cap or the pen would be too short to use. Sort of like a Kaweco Sport. That's not a big deal. Just wanted you to know what you're likely getting and that everything I just said could be completely off base.

Pilots are great. I'd get it.

EDIT: Just found this thread. It's a pocket pen. Very cool photo a few posts into the thread!

Alright awesome. I'm going to order when I get home this evening. I'm glad I'll be away next week, should keep my mind busy, instead of sitting at home impatiently waiting for it to get here

The pen the OP linked to has a gold-plated steel nib, which is fine. It's probably similar to a 78G. Looks like a lot of these pens came with 14K nibs and sell for much higher prices. I'd love to get my hands on one of the latter. I shouldn't have looked into this thread.
