It's Med Preps or nothing.

So I've been shaving with my R41 and med prep blades exclusively for about a month now. So today, I thought I'd throw in an Astra SP and see how it goes, since I have almost 90 blades left of this particular brand. It didn't go well, and could really feel the difference between the two blades. After 3 passes, it just wasn't the same. I felt I had to apply just a bit more pressure to get a decent cutting action. This as we all know is a bad idea. So on the fourth pass, I put back in one of the meds, and all went well, and could feel it cutting the low stuff left behind with the Astra with less pressure.

I guess when I feel bored again, I'll chuck in one of the Feathers I have laying around and see how that feels again.

But for now, the meds just give me a great smooth shave.

Perhaps you could give a Gillette Silver Blue a try, or even one of the Gillette Blacks. I'm waiting for my Blacks to arrive from Razors Direct (used the code that is listed here and got myself 105 of them for less than $24), but picked them up after reading multiple reviews here about how amazing they are. The Silver Blue I can attest to from personal experience. Smooth and sharp, and an incredible deal at Razors Direct for 100 of them cheaper than even Amazon has them for. Maybe one of those blades will perform as well or better than your Med Prep do now. Who knows unless you experiment, which is a true delight!
