What's new

It's almost butterscotch

I snagged this off the bay earlier today. It was ridiculously cheap at $14.50. I can't understand how you can buy a good condition Solingen straight for that price.

There are definitely deals to be found, and this was one of them. Looks like it's barely been used.

No doubt it will hone up nicely and become a great shaver. Hard to go wrong with Solingen blades.

Nice score.

I see you are trying to match your collection of DE's... next thing you know you'll have 200 straights laying about

Great deal you got there :thumbup1:

Because it is reasonably well known that research labs use different colours to denote which tools and equipment are used in which area. Orange indicates that a piece of equipment is used in areas with seriously communicable diseases.

You just bought the Ebola monkey shaver.

I have the proper disposal equipment at my work. Box it up carefully and send it to me. I'll make sure it is dealt with correctly. If you have any orange brushes you better put them in the box too, just to be on the safe side.

And after that you can start collecting hones to get those razors shave-ready and strops to keep them going and pastes to keep them going even longer and so on and so forth.

I honed this up yesterday and gave it a try this morning.

What a fantastic blade. I'm not going to take credit for it but it's very sharp and smooth. Although I've had BBS with straights before, it's the first time with one that I honed myself.

Just a bit of info - that's a retailer's razor, the 'Monopol' is a trademark of F. Baurmann & Son, who were at 76 Beethovenstrasse in 1939 and are recorded in Solingen from 1914 - 1932 previous to that. Hope this helps!
