Italian Barber Shaving Soap

Why should it be ? Thats 1 kg = 1000 gramms.
The soap in the post is only 100 gramms. That's only 1/10 Kg.
Spade, if you took the time to read the description on the link this is what it would say,
"'New in stock - Italian Barber Shaving Soap - 100 g
This shaving soap is used buy the Barbieri in Italy.
It produces a very fine and thick leather. The skin feels very nice after use.
The smell is slightly sweet and clean without any real smell. A bit of almond oil has been used but it is hardly noticable.
The soap is neither hard nor creamy and can easyly be modeled in any soap bowl or mug you want.

The soap comes hand wrapped in folia and paper and is hand cut from a big block.

Weight: 100 g at the time the soap was cut.
Ingredients: Cocos Nucifera, Tallow, Stearic Acid, Potassium Hydroxide, Sodium Hydroxide, Aqua, Potassium Carbonate, Parfum ( a tiny bit of Bitter Almond Oil)."

this is also how another vendor sells samples here

Epic.

It could be P.160 or Cella. Both can be had in 1Kg bricks. The ingredient list matches my Cella exactly. The description says it is hand wrapped and cut from a big block. It all adds up!

Cella can be had locally in the USA for about $12 + shipping. If it is Cella it is cheaper this way (unless overseas shipping costs eat up the difference). It is worth a bit more when purchased locally because it comes in a plastic container that can be closed tightly. This stuff does have a 12 month shelf life and I suspect that is only good if kept tightly sealed. It does have organic ingredients and no preservatives. It could also dry out.

Now I think shipping from RasurPur to the USA is a fixed amount as long as you are under a certain so weight adding it to an order might not cost anything extra for shipping.

What to expect? The best damned shaving soap you've ever used, that's what!

Along with the soap a nice satin Le Grelot will soon be mine. Of course the Grelot was more of an impulse buy. I really just wanted the soap.

Still waiting for my Le Grelot. In fact, I ordered early in June and despite a promise that he would process my order yesterday (Monday), I have still not heard a thing. Thinking about cancelling and getting it from Classic Shaving. Anyone else been waiting for their order?

Received it today. Looks like butter smells like, well... soap. Very soft like putty. I'll give it a spin in the morning.

Actually, it looks very much like some fine Camembert cheese. The type you might buy from the farmer himself at the local market (hence the not-from-factory look).
But frankly, it looks heavenly either way; whether it's Camembert or shaving soap.

Forgive the dumb questions, but what do you with it? Do you form it into a shape of some kind in a bowl or mug? Does it last long? Is it a tallow based soap or a glycerin based soap?

I have to get some of that stuff, of only because it is so different than what I am used to.

I shape it into a cake and press it into the bottom of a bowl. I cover the bowl with plastic and put it in the fridge after I have just used it in my rotation. I take it out the day before to warm to room temperature the night before I use it. If you have Cella it is preservative free and has a shelf-life of 12 months after you take it out of the package and leave it unrefrigerated. I put mine wrapped in the fridge to add shelf life. For the P-160, I think it has some light preservative in it and has a shelf life of 36 months. What you have looks more like Cella or P-160 Duro. There is a P-160 tipo morbido that is very soft like soft candle wax at the top sides of a candle.

I was thinking about getting some Cella. What happens after 12 months? I'm afraid I won't finish it given the other things in the rotation.

This stuff is wonderful! Great lather, very protective with an nice clean scent. I can't imagine it clashing with anything. I'll probably use it for the next few days just to experiment with other blades & aftershaves.
