Italian Almond Soaps - where to find chunks of them?

Hey Guys,

What are your thoughts on the Italian almond scented soft soaps; specifically the ones that come in 1Kg blocks? I've been trying to get some chunks from various soaps but haven't had any luck. What soaps are generally considered favoured and which ones aren't regarded very well?

I came across a veggie based almond soft soap (3P brand) but I can't find any reviews on it; it seems only a few retailers carry it as well. Does anyone have any experience with it? (I'm a sucker for underdogs sadly).

Where can I get chunks from the almond soap bricks?

Thanks!

D'oh! thanks Turtle! I didn't read the descriptions properly; I thought the tubs were creams and the blocks were soaps.

No just "human" sized quantities.

Cella
Valobra
Vitos

All are very good with Cella having the most almond scent Joseph should have tubs of all of those brands in stock. He is in Canada so shipping should be a bit easier on your wallet than a US vender

I just received and used my Cella tub for the first time today and I must say that I am a big fan! I don't love the smell but I enjoy it. Lather was really thick and easy to generate and the shave was so smooth. Now I want to try a chunk of the brick to see if I can justify a whole brick. :wink2:

Give Valobra and Vitos a try before you decide as the scent is different (still almond but different than Cella). I have and use all of them. They are all great performing soaps.

Connaughtshaving.com carries small quantities of 3P, Cella - I am not sure about the others.

3P is a very soft soap. It is excellent, IMHO, equal to the other more well-known soaps. Connaughtshaving is a good place to explore given your preferences. Italian barber is excellent but I do not think they have 3P. That said, you may want to try Razorock R-160, the Razorock version of P.160, which is discontinued. It also is an excellent soap.

Another soft Italian almond scented soap that does not get a lot of air play around here is Figaro

U can get a brick from antica barbiera colla, or Garry has some sample chunks, also cella brick samples.

Barbiere di Figaro has close to everything made in Italy except RazoRock products (although many RazoRock products are made by Tcheon Fung Sing, which they do carry). This pack of 5 samples is mostly what you are looking for, add a tub of their own Barbiere di Figaro Raffinato soap, Figaro as shown by Turtle, and you should be set for a while.

Brothers pifed me a piece of 3P. It is a very nice soap with a strong (to me) amaretto scent; lathers easily and well. I know that Connaught carries it in big pieces and smaller pieces, and remember that one other place carries the big pieces (but do not remember who). Believe you will find comments on it at Shavemyface.
