What's new

It finally happened

I was doing really well. Really! But I just realized today that at after more than a year of DE shaving, I finally forgot how many shaves I had on the blade in my razor! (Seemed to shave OK though...)

They say short term memory is the first to go! What tricks do you guys have to keep track of your shaves, if any?

Always happens to me as well. I error on the side of caution and swap it out. Usually it's around 4-5 shaves for an Astra SP.

I usually go on Saturday and mid-week. Somehow I cruised right through Saturday and couldn't remember which day last week was the swap.

It's not like the blades are that expensive, just irritated with myself that I forgot. Argh!

I set my mine on the counter with the blade facing 3:00 = 1 shave, 6:00 = 2,shaves, 9:00= 3 shaves, After that I change blades. I sometimes have multiple razors at different number of shaves each ready to go.

I use a dice. Now, you have to remember to change it but it works out great for me. You also have to keep it in a place where it won't get moved or picked up by prying hands.

Ex. 1st shave = 1 on dice and so on. Guess i'm in trouble if I find a blade that lasts more than 6 shaves, but as of yet ,have not had that problem.

Sometimes I keep the wrapper on the counter and make a tear after each shave. After 3 I toss the blade. Sometimes I forget to tear the wrapper but I try and keep a mental note of shaves if I can lol... :)

I just replace every weekend, Brings back memories of how I would try so hard to make carts last longer!

Was that 5 shaves or 6? I lost count...but seeings as how this is the most powerful razor and will tear your face clean off...do you feel lucky punk?? (sorry Clint - couldnt resist.). I usually try (operative word is TRY) to remember and change after 3 or 4 shaves.

I fill in an online shaving diary, so am always upto speed with how many shaves a blade in each razor has had. I've also recently stopped using most blades for more than 2 shaves, so I don't have to count very far!

I use blades twice only and it's easy to manage.

When I open the packet, if the blade is new then I leave the little envelope on the side. After my shave, I take the blade out and clean the razor. The blade is left to dry and then it goes back in the packet.

Next time I open that packet, I can see the blade has been used before so I put the envelope in the bin. After my shave, if there's no envelope on the side then the blade goes in the bank.
