It Finally Happened

I have been off and on with straight shaving for about 6 months now. Just last week, I dedicated myself to learning how to use the darn things. I put my Merkur Progress in a drawer and forced myself to learn good technique. Well...a week later, it has paid off! I have marked today as "The-First-Day-I-Got-DFS-With-a-Straight-Razor Day"! I have been so excited about it all day.:w00t:

I suppose all of my training fell into place and the planets aligned properly or something. Either way, I had an irritation-free shave for the first time with a straight!

Can't wait until morning...:tongue_sm

PS - I was using an 11/16 1/4 hollow Torrey.---it was smooth as butta:001_cool:

Well done; it really is the only way to learn technique etc, remove the alternative. After all there was no alternative till King Gillette came and did his thing.

thanks for all of the posts of congrats and confidence! I know I am certainly far from great shaves...but I am happy with my progress thusfar.

Congrats! I'm just starting out, so no DFS for me yet, but I'm not giving up.

Skrymr - Keep at it...I am 99.9999 percent sure it will be worth it:lol:!

Congratulations! I remember the first time I got my first, real, excellent shave from a straight. I was thinking: "This can't be real. This is amazing!"

That sold me on straights.

Thanks, there's no turning back now. I'm enjoying this way too much. I'm not going for a BBS shave, my aim is to get comfortable carefully. The rest will work itself out.
