Has anyone else had issues getting the blades to sit perfectly centered in their Old Types? One on of mine, the blade always ends up visibly crooked. On the other one, there is play but I can get it straight if I'm careful. On all my other vintage razors, the blade is always perfectly centered. Is this common? I'm about to completely give up on one of mine.

This is common with lots of razors, but as you mentioned the Old Type is one where the issue is more pronounced. Even my Mergress, which I thought would be absolutely flawless, has some "play" in it. I do have an experiment that I'm going to try that I think may solve the off-center blade placement issue for some razors. If I'm successful I'll post my results and share my idea.
I have that exact same issue with mine. Truth be told, I've just about resigned my Old Type to sitting around collecting dust because of it. It does give me a damned good shave when I get everything squared away, but compared to my New, it just doesn't seem worth the effort.
With anything mechanical and roughly 100 years old, anything is possible. But it's no big deal to manually center the blade. It takes 10 seconds, and then the blade is good to go for say 5 to 7 days.
