What's new

Is this the Osage Rub AS I hear so much about?

Well, the title says is all really.

Here is what I'm looking at: http://www.fendrihan.com/clubman-osage-toner-p-557.html

I contacted Alfred but he too is unsure if this is the same AS that is mentioned so much here since it is listed as a toner, not only on his website but on Clubman's as well.

I'm guessing this is the one since the bottle looks exactly like pictures I've seen here, and Clubman seems to make only one.

So what's the verdict gentlemen?

Osage Rub is not a strict aftershave, though that's what everyone uses it for. It's sold as a splash or toner. The label reads "invigorating splash for head and body". It's never been labeled "aftershave". It's the same stuff we're always talking about. :)

That's it. Not labeled as an aftershave though it contains many of the same ingredients as a lot of splashes.

I have it and use it regularly as both an after shave and body splash.

Ah, that is what I was starting to think. But until I saw this listed as a toner on the site I didn't know it wasn't strictly an aftershave, since that is what everyone uses it as, and it is always being discusses or reviewed in the aftershave areas of the website. Thanks for the info! Alfred was wondering the answer to this himself.

That's the bottle I have!

Thanks Lou!

Yep! That's the one. Excellent price for a nicely mentholated AS substitute! Mix it with some 444:biggrin:

I plan on getting some 444 soon, so oh I will

You must order this now! In fact, order two! Let the freezing begin.

I'm trying to! I would have already done it if it wasn't for the fact that I wasn't sure if this was the right product. I'm going to order it RIGHT NOW!

Has anyone ever tried it on the "head and body" - sounds like an extreme thing to do.

I use it quite a bit in the summer on my face and hair, especially if I'm working in the yard or in the hot sun. North Carolina summer sun + black hair = hot head.

As a matter of fact, I think I've only used it as an aftershave once or twice. I don't care for the scent. If I need that much cooling from my aftershave I go with something like Aqua Velva, which smells much nicer. I also use Osage as a muscle rub, works much better than Icy Hot in that respect.

OK, now for the stupidest question of the thread. Assuming I have a tube of 444 and a bottle of Osage Rub. Do I mix them together physically (i.e. a solution of 1 part each) in a container or do I simply apply some Osage Rub followed immediately by application of 444? Do you mix Osage Rub with 444 balm or 444 AS?
