Is this how y'all lather with a boar and soap?

What do you guys think of this gentleman's method for lathering with soap and a boar brush? It seems to use a lot of soap, but the soap does seem to be extremely thick and creamy, any thoughts?

The video did help me with my omega 48 boar brush, though I won't use it on my good puck of Tabac, but only a badger brush that is shaken before loading.

I tend to use alot less water to start. I'll get a bit of a lather going and then just dip my brush into to sink to add a bit more water. I don't like to have drippy foam going on all over the place.

Nice video . . . On mute. Seriously tho, he develops a nice lather but like the rest of you said, it would certianly waste alot of soap.

Yikes! That guy went on for six minutes beating that poor soap to death.

I never timed myself but I think I might be somewhere between one and two minutes. Probably closer to one.

I load up the brush (15 secs?) then go straight to the face. Maybe it has something to do with the larger surface are of the face but the lather appears almost immediately. I stretch it out a bit just 'cause it feel right.

It looks clumsy and inefficient. I "load" my brush (boar or badger) with soap. I shake the brush pretty dry and start to make lather. When the tips are covered in soap, I move it to a large "jumbo mug" (it's not a shaving mug actually) and add a littlebit of water. Make more lather, add water... until it's ready to go!

I used this method years ago when I first Starting using a brush and soap. It works very well however it is a huge waste of soap, and really seems to me to be less efficient, then loading the brush and face lathering.

Wow not only is that a lot of wasted soap... but, it took him FOREVER to do it. And at the end it didn't really look all that great.

If he wants that much soap... why not soak the soap in hot water for 20 seconds first then load the brush. Save some time and prevent sore hands Hehehe.

I think the problem is too much water at first, and as it drips off simultaniously with more and more soap being charged into the brush... it finally starts to lather properly.

At the end, is it me or does his lather look slightly dry still? Maybe I just like it the smallest of a percent more moist.

I think it looks oddly thick, like and icing and not like meringue. Whether that means it's dry, I don't know.
