Nice razor. It does not have the square base plate, so it could be a Rocket or a Junior, simply depending on the original case and when it was made. Lacking more data, I believe there is no way to tell.

To be honest, it could be an Aristocrat or a Rocket if it's not the Parat.

It really depended on the packaging it originally came in with some of these razors.

A lot of them are similar and some are even identical, but were retailed in different cases or boxes under different names.

The New models form the US are like that.

The bottom line is whether it's what you're looking for and looks good to you at the price.

FWIW, I think the more highly prized ones have the flat (heavier) base plate. Landing one of those with a nice case would be a great deal, I think. The one shown in the photos looks very nice, and I don't think you'd be getting ripped of if you paid $50 for it w/ the case. I'd personally rather have an HD Rocket, just because I like their handle diameter better, but that's subjective, and the Jr. is a great shaver.

Good luck.

Looks like this to me. If this razor is otherwise indistinguishable from the non-flat base Jr. and someone matched it with this Aristocrat Jr. case to sucker a buyer into believing the razor is an AJ, it hardly matters. It's a British Rocket (clearly not an HD or LD or #58), the razor looks to be in excellent condition, and it should make a great shaver. The biggest risk you're taking, I think, is that you'll fall in love with British Gillettes and end up with that monkey on your back.

this will be the most expensive Razor I have bought. If I Decide to pull the trigger.

$50 is not bad. The razor looks to be in very nice condition and the build quality of the British Gillette razors is far and beyond the US models.

I say it is a good deal whether it's an Aristocrat or not. Take a look at what $50 buys brand new nowadays (Zamak heads, iffy build quality), and then it really starts to look like a bargain.

EDIT: ChiefBroom and I were thinking along the same lines at the same time. Gotta learn to type quicker.

+1. I'm an old guy and can afford to indulge my RAD. But I completely appreciate and respect that lots of DE shavers (e.g., my son in college) are on tight budgets and need to be highly cost conscious and frugal. If, however, you can afford to spend $50 on a razor, this would be a good one to buy. If you're fairly new to this, you might find it to be a little agressive. But if you use it with care, that will improve your technique. And if you end up not liking it -- or needing $$ to pay the rent (I sold my favorite pair of jeans once when I think I only owned 3 pair) -- you can sell it on BST and get most if not all of your money back. The only reason I can think of to hesitate is that you might find a better deal, or as good a deal on what I consider to be a better razor like the HD Rocket. That's splitting pretty fine hairs though, both in terms of economics and tool superiority. The Aristocrat Jr. is a fine tool and one you could use for 40+ years and pass on to your own son. You're not going to lose on the deal. To my mind, the only real consideration is opportunity cost, i.e., if you buy this, you probably won't be able to buy something else for a while.

Good luck.

FWIW, I have a birth year ('53) President that's mint, still has the price tag attached. And I love it. But IMO it doesn't hold a candle as a shaver to a British HD Rocket or a Aristocrat #58, either of which you can easily get for the price of a President if not less. As for Aristocrats in general, there's a broad range of them; take time to develop a sense of the differences and use the AJr., if you get it, to try to figure out what you want (which is likely to change as your skills develop). That said, I don't think anyone every really grows out of being able to effectively use and appreciate a good British Aristocrat. The 4th razor I bought was an HD Rocket. It's still one of my favorites and I don't expect that will ever change. My recommendation, however, is to try to find a #58 in really good condition. They essentially have the same gemoetry as HD Rockets, but also the refined style of an Aristocrat as well as, I think, better balance and feel. They aren't as highly prized because 1) they aren't Rhodium plated and 2) they aren't as heavy due to the stamped base-plate. But that doesn't impair their competence as great shavers.
