That's the one I found too. The case I have is different but I'm pretty sure that is the razor.

Yes sir, I believe you are correct. The cap is from a "logo" Gold Tech, and not from a NEW.

They are very close in fitment, but I'm not sure if the Tech cap will actually clamp the blade properly on a NEW guard plate.

I am looking at the thing now and it appears to fit snugly.

I'd love to have the cap match the plate. The thing is: is the plate a "new" either?

Most of the NEW and Tech caps are interchangeable, except for the early short comb cap with big nibs and the very late zinc tech caps.

Ok. Here are some more photos of the baseplate. Is this a New Somerset baseplate, with an appropriate handle and a mismatched top (which will soon be corrected)?

i think it's the case that determines whether it's a somerset more than the razor; does the case match the somerset case? the razor handle and guard could be the type sold with that set.

No. I am sure the case is for a different model since there are three holes in the case for the top plate which has only the single bar.

I have in front of me right at this moment a Bar Handled New with the markings like you have on your razor (long comb) and also one with the same markings as the one shown on Mr. Razors site (short comb).

I don't know for certain, but it may just be that the Somerset is one of thos razors that is named for the case it comes with, and not the razor itself.

The Richwood, New Standard and Bostonian are an example of this. All the same razor, but named differently based on the case they come with.

What does the outside of the case look like?
