Is there any research/data available on # of shaves / tube (or per weight unit)

To extend my Super Cost Effective DE Starter Gift Kit research, currently under the poll Best <$5 Creams, I've come to the point where I'd like to compare cost/shave of products. How many shaves do people get per tube or gram of Proraso, Palmolive, or any other shaving cream? I've googled around a bit, but suspect the quicker route to the answer might be here.

Thanks!

I have been tracking mine in my wiki, but its not going to be accurate for anyone else as we all use different amounts of lather.

on 'average', my 1/4 ounce shave cream samples yield 2 to 4 shaves. do the math. ymmv.
but i don't get the point. life is too short. and we all end up with far more soap, cream, razors, colognes, etc than we'll ever use in our lifetime.
this is fortunately not something we have to watch like gas mileage, electricity usage or return on investment.
simple pleasure; just enjoy it.

Steve, that summary was brilliant!

IIRC, I also recall seeing a thread that looked at cost/shave of the terribly expensive MDC that found it was also in the regular 10c per shave range.

I've been using my TOBS Mr. Taylor's cream since Feb 1st. I shave every other day the tub of cream will be done at the end of this month or the first week of July. I use my finger and scoop out a toothbrush length of cream twice. For me each tub/tube of 150g of cream lasts approx. 90 shaves.

IIRC that would be an average of 2 gr of cream per shave. My last Proraso cream lasted more than two months with every day shaving, two passes.
Soaps last much longer.
