I can understand your sentiment with saving the knot. However, I didn't like that knot in the first place, so there was no dilemma for me.

Given that your rotation is a 2-band, a synth, and a boar, I can see how a 3-band might not be your cup of lather. I shoved my knot extra deep into a Simpsons Duke 1 handle that came with a poorly made pure knot. That at least gave it enough backbone to use.
