Is shaving going out of style?

I noticed that lately about half of the men on TV need a shave really bad. What's going on? It almost makes one think that shaving is going out of style. Do you think this is just a fad or is it a trend that is going to be around for awhile?

I am not sure but shaving the traditional way will always be a life style. I love and will always look forward to the zen-like process of shaving. It is my "me" time. A time that I can "get away" from the world. So... if the rest of the world is not shaving; I can guarantee one thing that there is a gentleman in Beautiful NorthWest Florida that is enjoying the wet shaving life style.:001_cool::a50:

Hipsters are like hippies except they can't grow a proper beard (hence the scraggly mess), can't grow proper hair (hence the woolen cap in summer) and instead of world peace they strive for consumption. Don't worry, it'll pass.

There will be at least two of us. :thumbup1::thumbup1:

Just watched Skyfall on TV this evening, (James Bond)
One scene where he lathers up with what looked like a nice brush and pulls out a cut throat and hands it to a tall pretty lady to give him a shave.

Now that was style,

It's just that they haven't found B&B yet.

The preppy, classy, fresh clean shaven look never goes out of style and never will for two main reasons.
It takes a few years off a man's perceived age. Not a problem for the under 30 crowd who some may even want to look more mature but after that, a big consideration for many men and especially if they don't want to look homeless with a scrappy, grey beard. The second reason is............... wait for it, Women! Many don't like the porcupine feel when getting close to a man. It looks great on some men from afar but up close and personal, can be a problem for many. Some women's skin is actually quite sensitive to beards.

Like hairstyles, when it comes to facial hair, be it hipster/honest abe beards, goatee's, mustache's, 5 o'clock shadows, sideburns and scrappy doo's, they are all trends that will fall in and out and repeat.

I dont necessarily think the beards are a bad thing. That being said, if one has facial hair, it needs to be kept. Shaving is still involved when you have facial hair, or it should be. Time to get us a bearded President again. Its been over 100 years since our last bearded President.

I think that much of what we see on television and the movies is researched to death and carefully cultivated for the widest possible measure of attractiveness to audiences. There are studies out there that show beard stubble = heightened masculinity and attractiveness in the minds of people. Ergo, stubbly dudes on tv and in the movies. Same reason why most of the women on tv are tiny little things with boob jobs.

If there were studies that showed women in the 18-40 age group were highly attracted to bald men with earrings, George Clooney would be looking like Mr. Clean in his next movie.
