Is Penhaligons worth the price?

Opus 1870 is wonderful. It seems to last quite a very long time on me.
Sartorial is very unique, a scent which just begs to be sniffed.
To answer your question, I think Penhaligons is worth the price...especially if you get it on sale with free shipping.

I calculated the fragrance I have on hand and I figure I have enough cologne to last 10 years after I'm dead! Most of that is from Penhaligon's! Right now I can see 7 bottles of Penhaligon's Colognes tucked away in my bookcase because I ran out of room in my bedroom closet and the bathroom closet! My favorite is English Fern and next favorite Castile and another is LP No. 9 - I also have others tucked away in odd places... Oops! I just found another in there! That makes 8! Does that answer your question? The only thing that I don't like is that the price used to be about $40 a bottle but that was 25 years ago! Buy and Enjoy! (Yes, get samples first!)

Just ordered the Gentlemen's Collection. 4 5ml bottles of Endymion, Blenheim Bouquet, Sartorial and Quercus. Never tried Penhaligon's so looking forward to these.

I just received my sampler and they bottles fell over and leaked. The Sartorial was more than half empty. The vendor is sending new sample bottles of the Sartorial, Opus 1870, and Endymion. They said this has happened before.

Uh Oh. At least they're sending you replacements.

good vendor, who?

Smallflower / Merz
i have used their site for quite a bit of shaving and other personal items. I bought my wife and daughter Kent hair brushes for their Christmas stockings and added the pens sampler for myself because I always wanted to try it. Pens seems great I have only tried the opus 1870 but I loved it and it lasted a long time for me.

I just bought Sartorial. I found a set with a 50ml eau, shower gel, and a deo stick for 80 bucks. Worth it in my book. I've sampled quite a few and Sartorial and Quercus are my faves.

Just came back from the Wynn in Vegas and brought this with me. Ted was the fragrance specialist I dealt with and he did a great job! I'd say its worth it, but try it first. I had random women smelling my wrists for over an hour as a test survey

I first came across Penhaligons while visiting the Art of Shaving store in SF. I sprayed on a scent and continued on with my day. A couple days later that scent was still around, whether on a shirt or jacket, what ever it was it lasted better than any other scent I have used.

I as well have difficulty spending $125 on a fragrance. I have been watching for some Opus 1870 or something similar on the Shave Mall thread for sale...

Price of any scent can be more or less subjective.

To me Penhaligon's scents are on the edge of not being worth it.

That said, they do have some good fragrances, though.

I have a sampler, I did not find any "wow" factor in them. Still, I did enjoy Hammam Bouquet.

I think pricing is very subjective. I don't find Pen's to be worth that much, but who knows... maybe if I'd have the resources, I might find their offering worth the price under which their products are sold.

Their packaging is a work of genius. No flashy bottles, but colors and labels and ribbons that scream traditional British quality. Penhaligon's is one of those odd firms that died a natural death and was then revived, in I think the 1970s or early 80s. The bluebell fragrance was immediately popular, once a certain princess admitted to using it.

Always difficult to assess just how true to their roots these revivified consumer companies are; Penhaligon claims to use their original Victorian recipe book, but no-one can really tell how much that counts nowadays.

Their scents are mostly pleasant, but I've not yet found one that really speaks to me, and yes, price is part of that attractiveness equation.

The fragrances do last, more then the "supermarket" EdTs. If it is worth it or not, it will definitely come down to how much you enjoy their scents.
I personally could not be without Sartorial, and Endymion, English Fern and Blenheim Bouquet are very nice as well. This reminds me I have to try the new Bayolea!
