Is it silly?

I shave at night, to give myself extra time. I use after shave, of course, at night after my shave. Is it silly to put some on in the morning before I head out for work?

Just wait until you make excuses to go in the bedroom or bathroom and start sniffing your brushes :001_rolle

No but I recommend. ALWAYS wear facial lotion with a SPF sunscreen! Regardless of what activity you just commenced on your face, before heading out into the sun. Sun damage to skin is real. Mostly to the sensitive facial area, and certainly right after you just gave it an alcohol burn/dry I am sure it will do a lot of good and certainly couldn't hurt.

Your asking a bunch of guys who meticulously memorize the details of old razors, drop a paycheck on soaps, creams, brushes etc, and get into heated disagreements over the smell of a fragrance if putting on aftershave in the morning is silly?
Nope. Not at all.
Unless you don't like the smell. Then that would be silly.

Phil wins the thread with this, hands down!

Even so, I must post....

Silly? Not at all! Some us do the opposite. We shave in the morning and then slap on some aftershave (sometimes not even the same one, egads!) before retiring to bed for the evening just so we can fall asleep in the grand essence of it all! :badger:

Absolutely not! I'm usually a night shaver, too, and I view it as an opportunity to use two different aftershaves before going to work. In fact, I have "night" and "day" ASes. I use bay rum, AV or Proraso at night, all others during the day. (When I'm feeling bold I'll put on bay rum, AV or Proraso during the day.)

Since I'm a morning shaver I don't apply an evening aftershave but there is a big bottle of 4711 that just may well get opened up and a couple dabs put on the neck prior to retiring to sleep...

Aftershave is a great way to start the day... Whether you just shaved or not!

I concur. Since I started wet shaving, I've stopped using cologne altogether...I found that I preferred my aftershaves' scents, plus spritzing on cologne just can't compete with the refreshing, invigorating feeling of slapping on a nice AS splash. Also, by the time I get to work, the AS has faded into a pleasant, almost unnoticeable, clean scent, which is exactly what I aim for.

In summary, not silly at all. I place aftershave in the same category as deodorant: something I use every morning when getting ready, whether I just shaved or not.

Yeah, what he said! Except for the next to nothing at the end of the day thing. I usually refresh my splash in the afternoon. Just curious, Chicago, and a bit off topic, but is it easy to find Master Well Comb aftershaves in the Chicago/ Midwest area? It's next to impossible to find them here in California.
