What's new

Is it me, or are we being bombarded with pretzel buns?

If I didn't know any better, I'd think we ran out of regular burger and hot dog buns worldwide. Does it seem like everything is served on a pretzel bun, or did I just not notice it until lately?

Maybe a local thing?
I haven't seen it predominately in my recent travels, or locally here.

Have you been eating at Lamberts?

Maybe it is a local thing. Sonic has their pretzel dog commercials that run about every 20 mins., Wendy's has a new burger on a pretzel bun and I ordered a burger from a mom and pop restaurant, last night, and got it on a ........... wait for it

Pretzel bun.

Haven't eaten at Lamberts, but I would like to someday, just for the rolls. :001_smile

Food is getting bigger no doubt. I recall a quarter pounder with cheese was a large burger. Now it is the diet choice. Frozen burgers are 6 and 8 oz. and the buns are keeping up. Sadly I can't keep up. I find myself finding the no-name brand smaller buns and building burgers to fit.

I'm a small guy, so I do the same thing.

Don't tell me that wraps are passe now?

Gees I haven't gotten around to trying one yet and they are gone in favor of monster dough buns?

Sonic's Pretzel Dog with cheese and bacon sounds amazing. I went there the other day to try one, but they had run out of pretzel buns.

I've seen it as well. I tried it at smashburger as a build your own before it was a "thing", not that great. I like a turkey sandwich on a pretzel bun once in a while, but other than that... no thanks, too dense

Some fast food restaurant just came out with a pretzel burger.
I saw it the other day but I can't remember where.
I bought a pretzel bun from the grocery store and it was awful.

Super salty and very dense.

You're right They're everywhere.

It's because the world is getting just a little more twisted every year. :001_tongu I guess it finally reached the bread market!

I wonder what's next?

For the collective record, a good pretzel bun is a thing of joy. Having tasted the one from Wendy's today I have to report that there is no joy to be had there. More like stale white bread.

They were kind of popular a few years ago in the fun sandwich shops but didn't really catch on, now there is better marketing and the fast food places have them... Really awesome sandwich shops still have pretzel buns and good ones are amazing. Bad ones, not so much.

Just be careful Christopher they don't call it the home of the throwed roll for nothing.

That's the only reason to go LOL. I don't even know if the food is good or not. I'll bet they don't have pretzel rolls:tongue_sm
