OK, I'm now able to compare the discontinued Mentolado vigoroso and The Genuine (new formula) directly. To be honest, The Genuine isn't nearly as bad as I had imagined from the reports here and in other fora. Yes, it misses a little of the mentholic punch, but indeed only a little, because the "vigoroso" version itself wasn't exactly a menthol monster when compared to after shave lotions such as the German Pitralon Classic, which contains enough menthol to cause a sensation of shock-freezing on the skin. The Genuine fragrance is a little more on the powdery side than the old menthol version and a tiny bit sweeter, but not nearly as much as to qualify it as a unisex fragrance. The Genuine fragrance definitely stays on the masculine side and complements my favourite EdT, Paco Rabanne One Million, quite nicely.
