What's new

Is Floid Vigoroso now a thing of the past ..?

It strikes me that many vendors appear to now sell only the so-called new formula Floid aftershave ... (Well, apart from a bunch of entirely new stuff that Floid definitely did not use to make before) In other words, it just might be that the new formula "Genuine" replaces not only the old "Genuine", but also Floid's "Vigoroso", so that from now on, there is only one "traditional" orange Floid aftershave in existence -- the new formula "Genuine".
If that is indeed the case, it would be a major setback for Floid lovers, and in particular those of us who love(d) the extra kick of the Vigoroso (extra scent, alcohol, menthol).
I find this perspective hard to believe, but who knows, Floid has done something radical like this before. Much to the dismay of many wetshavers, Floid simply discontinued their highly regarded "Blue" aftershave some years ago. Who knows if they have done it again and simply ditched the Vigoroso...!!
Are anyone here informed and what status is on this?

My remaining stock, and yes the old versions are gone like the Blue.

The Vigoroso is still on the Floid website, are you sure it is discontinued?

It's gone from from all vendors' websites that I have checked. I have even found it on some websites, tried to purchase it, and then been informed that it was gone, they just hadn't deleted the picture yet (so I didn't get my 6X 400 ml after all - I got just one bottle on Amazon in Germany)! Note that I have been chasing the 400 ml bottle here. But nowhere I have checked have had Vigoroso in the small bottle either. However, if Floid keeps the Vigoroso in the small bottle on their website, perhaps there is hope. I do really like the extra kick of the Vigoroso, even though I also have to say that I am warming up to the new formula Genuine. It is very similar to the old Genuine, possibly identical, at least in terms of feel.

Never tried the Myrsol but Varon Dandy is also a classic Spanish barbershop scent.
Thank you so much @Multum in parvo, for introducing Varon Dandy Masaje to me (above)..!!
I just got myself a one-liter bottle, what a great deal, and what a great aftershave..!!! 🥰
I wouldn't say it's much like Floid, but it's a great deep and intriguing scent, very "Spanish" and old-school.
And, the combo of active ingredients leave a great postshave feel that lingers for quite some time, very important in my book.
Wonderful old-school history too if you look around, check

There is also a similar priced and sized Cologne that I use as body splash

Woof. That stinks. I was going to do a restock when I too noticed everything Floid except Amber was out of stock at all the usual places. I really liked Suave/Vigoroso. Amber/Genuine is a little too subdued for me. Well, based on @guitarslinger 's input, I just bought a bottle of Myrsol's 1919.

I wonder why they dropped the other scents. Looks like Genuine is the only one left?

Honestly don’t worry too much … I bought it because of the threads on here … it’s ok..

But in all honesty treat yourself to something better … Floid and Tabac were the stepping stone to Stirling …. So glad I didn’t hang around with the cheap(er) recommendations

And with likes of Stirling you can get all matching scent etc (only limitation is none seem to do deodorant… but the EDT covers that really)

One thing I have learnt through years in Shavedom, there is no 1:1 relation between price and quality. To the contrary, here is a domain where that stereotype gets seriously challenged.

I'm on my last 400 ml bottle of Mentolado vigoroso, so I should be safe for another three months or so.

I've ordered "The Genuine" (new formula) to try if it's any good but will definitely miss the extra menthol kick. Shame that international companies (such as Martelli S.p.A. AKA Proraso, the owner of the Floïd brand) always seem to fiddle with the really good things, and even more so when they acquired them freshly, only to make things cheaper to produce and streamline everything to be more and more profitable, and then still more profitable, so as to squeeze out the last fraction of a cent. There's applied capitalism for you, but don't think for a second that socialism would work any better. :rolleyes1
