Introducing: The Penchetta Super Scrubber

I had Tony at Penchetta make this custom boar scrubber for me. It is a 24mm boar knot set at 40mm loft. :biggrin1:

It arrived in the mail today, so I have only had a few test lathers. It definitely lives up to its name. I've lathered with Williams and Prairie Creations and it has returned very thick, dense lather with TONS of scrubbing action.

I'll post some pictures after it breaks in a bit, but it may not really "bloom" much.

Crazy, huh? (Pictured (left to right): Rooney 1/2, Penchetta Super Scrubber and Semogue 1305)

I agree with Ignatius, you really think that is going to bloom much if at all?

It's so tight and set so deeply I'm not so sure.

I'm not sure you'll even need to shave after face lathering with that brush -- it might just exfoliate the hair right off your face.

I'm wondering the same thing. Got any post-break-in photos?

I haven't taken any pictures of it lately, no. The hairs have softened, for sure, but the knot really doesn't look any different than it did initially.

It whips up a nice lather, just not much of it. I've been using it mostly on days when I only plan to do a 2-pass (WTG) shave. Tomorrow will be one of those days.

It's a REAL scrubber, but it isn't very scratchy, the tips have softened nicely.

Honestly, the jury's out on it. It was an experiment on my part and Tony made exactly what I asked for. The handle is really nice. If it turns out that my experiment failed, I can always pull this knot out and drop a higher-loft badger knot in there. Even 5-7mm more loft would make a big difference with badger.

I'll try to post some pictures of it sometime this week. Our camera has died and we have another on the way....
