Interesting Straight from Paris

If you want to know where to find the vintage razors in Paris I would say that the Vernaison flea market in the marce aux puces is your best bet. Not only is it the oldest flea market in europe, but also the largest. So instead of randomly dropping in Paris' antique stores--which you still should do, but they really only sell higher end fetish items than razors--go to the marce aux puces. The Vernaison has more of traditional flea market feel selling smaller, low-end objects than the other markets which sell high-end, antique furniture. I wish I had known this going into Paris. :thumbup1: Paying it forward.

I passed up a few blades earmarking them for when I come back later, but before I could those shops closed or vanished in my mental haze. There was only a single Theirs Issard--a 4/8, vintage grelot that the seller wanted 150 euros for, but would probably take 90.

The one razor that I happened to buy is Le Stefphanois from St. Etienne. A scale is broken, but outside of that it's pretty nice. I'd love to get insight into the production date and the other intangibles surrounding it as Google has failed me.

I also popped into Planet Razor and grabbed a Thiers and a jar of MdC. MdC lives up to the hype.

Cheers.

I can't give you any info but it is a nice looking razor and should clean up with little work. You are right MdC is amazing stuff isn't it!

Can't help you much.
