Interesting Razor Scales

Hello all,

I'm undertaking my first scale-creation project and think i'm going to deviate from the standard scale shape, in that respect, please inspire me with all the wackiest shaped razor scales you've encountered over your years of wetshave!

P.S. i picked up a real thin slab of white marble at a garage sale, tough to work with, but could work? i'd be worried about scratching the steel when it closes...let me know

If you were to make a wedge that was equally thick as the tang of the razor..and used a 3rd pin to stop the blade instead of the blade contacting the scales, then, it could be doable. the main issue is, marble doesnt flex. AT ALL. You'd also have the weight issue.

here is a couple pics of some of my "wilder" scales i've done:

nothing compared to buddell's insanity there ;)

I am thinking that they would be quite heavy.

Yes, unless you made them very thin... in which case you'd have a fragility issue. I think there's a reason we don't often see scales made of marble (or any other stone, for that matter.)

hmmm, alright, I decided to start with wood (although I cut a piece of the marble for the spacer), what is it you've used for pins in the above pictures? I've had trouble finding brass rod in the small town I am situated in for the summer...

Nice scales. Do you have a name for the first one. Makes me think of a black hawk or viking ship.

lol... well, when you see the blade, you'll figure out why I called it "Bloody Death" ..............fun with a dremel. Put a hellofa spike on the end :D It is a Wade & Butcher.
