King C. Gillette blades are that expensive because they are intended for the so called "First World" retail market. That implies a better QC and the fancy packaging.
In my experience the KCG are one of the best blades on the market today but if you don't want to pay the high-street price you can always buy the light blue Platinums at 9.99 x 50 blades. Great blades on par with the KCGs.
