Injector -- How do you load this crazy thing?

So, I finally got around to getting myself an Injector, took one look at it and realized "We are not in Kansas anymore!"

I Googled around a bit, and found yet another Mantic59 masterpiece that I haven't seen here before:

Razor porn at it's finest.

So you aren't actually having trouble loading an injector, are you?

First looking at it,
I didn't know what to do,
it seemed so foreign.

But, having found Mantic's video, I'm fairly confident I'll be able to get it done. :biggrin1:

I have to go buy some blades (any recommendations?), but if I have any problems I'll PM you. Thanks.

{Yes, I posted just to put up the video. :wink:}

Nice, I guess I learned that in the 60's, but thinking about it, you're right it isn't just intuitive .. Neil send me your address & Ill post a cartridge (late payment for the end caps you sent me) or try the chain drugstore types, I think they all come from one factory ..

I really like the EMS blades. The Schick blades that you can buy at drugstores are not nearly as smooth, it seems to me.

I hear that the NOS Personna 74 blades are the best. I would like to try them, if I could find some.

did you seriously just slip a haiku into your post?:lol:

:tongue_sm As always, a gold star for paying attention.

Go to www.drugstore.com and by the Schick-braded blades they sell there. These are the best blades available for the injector.

I think those are the ones I just bought -- made in Germany?

I was a little surprised at the price (about $6 for 7 blades). How many shaves do you get with them vs. a DE blade?

Thanks for the offer Gary, but it probably wouldn't be worth the postage to mail them. You are a true gentleman.

I get less out of the SE than say a Feather DE, but the use is different, I use the DE more often. I can get 5 of a Feather, usually the SE gets 4 uses over 2 weeks

I get about three, maybe four shaves from a DE blade normally and about a week out of SE blades.

If anyone else is old enough to remember the Eversharp Schick commercials, their mantra was "Push-Pull, Click-Click; change blades that quick".

It really was quite simple, although I know some of the injector cartridges that you may get nowadays don't seem to line up quite as well as they should. I never found that to be a problem back when they were popular.

Actually I used an injector for quite awhile back in the 50's. The "Type I" Hydro-Magic is my favorite of the models that I have tried.

Regards,
Tom

I have no idea who makes them but my local Rite Aid drugstore carries injector blades, 7 bucks for 15 or 16 blades, that are doing me good. Definitely worth trying if you have a Rite Aid nearby.
