ingrown neck hair tip

Gentlemen,

Long ago, a dermatologist told me that I am only allowed one pass North to South, with a single-blade razor. I tried this for a while with Bic disposables, and after cuts, irritation, and red bumps still in place, I switched to electric.

My first few shaves so far with a DE have helped, particularly the Edwin Jagger DE89's mildness.

Tonight I got my first shave with the Gillette Superspeed that didn't irritate and inflame the ingrown hair bumps on my neck by watching pressure, and running diagonally down the neck which is closer to WTG for me. After a close inspection, I discovered that my neck hair runs from one side to the other. I don't have the technique for East to West yet, but the diagonal was pretty easy. I hope this helps someone.

Best Wishes,
Shaveage

Taking it one step at the time is best for results! :thumbup1:

I had a bad patch of ingrowns on my neck since I was a kid (shaving kid). This was always irritated by my shirt collar (I have to wear a tie at work). I found that just using a safety razor solved the problem. I go wtg then kind of across the grain, 2 passes. I rarely go atg.

yes it helps to visually inspect the direction of hair growth, or also do a touch test. Your hairs on the neck can grow in all directions, so you might think you're going wtg when you might actually be going xtg or maybe even xtg/atg.

good to hear you found a solution and thanks for bringing this up :thumbup1:
