Congrats on the shave, it's invigorating, no? Welcome aboard!

I'll pass on the razor though. That just ain't my cuppa.

My first shave was great aside from the second pass razor burn, and I still haven't had the courage to go against the grain. I am having to shave every other day instead of every day though so I guess I still need a lot of improvement, but each shave seems more natural.

Congratulations and welcome on board. The razor is interesting to say the least, like a western kamisori. Good luck and if you do buy it enjoy! Show us the pics when you get it or it didn't happen. ;)

I like Charlie's razors but think his earlier designs were more appealing. So I'd go with a BB too. Save some money, get a very nice razor and support a guy who supports B&B.

I can't imagine buying another razor at the moment, still broke from all the new purchases surrounding my first straight razor. Maybe after my last semester at college i will think about getting another one. I liked the razor above because it reminds me of vertebrae.

It's easy to go over board paying for a razor. But then its always easy to go overboard getting new toys...er tools. Welcome to the club.

BTW where do you live, I'll keep an eye out on the obits so I can stop by you estate sale and pick up a 500 dollar razor for 30 bucks. ;) j/k.... well mostly.

Have fun.

i personally would go with a Brian Brown custom....

i LOVE lewis razors... but alas i will never own one because of who the majority of the profit goes to.....

*(i know i know... but i refuse to see a single penny go into that coffer)

Alas custom razor prices being something I'm not willing to even consider for myself (they're a really nice gift option imho, if any of my family were straight shavers as well and if I had that kinda money), so I can't comment on whose razors to buy.

But as neat as that handle looks, I think holding an uncovered steel tang while shaving would become a bother once the novelty of that design wore off. I'd go for a more standard Kami-esque wrapped handle if it were me. Though I may be wrong here (I never grew to like non-folding straights).

Buy a used one.

A custom BB non folding is a lot more affordable than you think, relatively speaking of course. You should PM him to see, and maybe even get on his waiting list. If you save your lunch money you might have enough by the time your number is called.

I am at Texas Tech in Lubbock Tx. As far as I am aware, there is no one (at least not in my age group) who shaves with straight razors. I wish this were not the case, because I wish I had some in person reference for how sharp I can get a razor. Wish there was a place to by supplies here as well, I have been waiting on a strop for 2 weeks and as far as I can tell it was shipped to my billing address and not my shipping address so I will have to wait even longer. Still has not been delivered, apparently it is just sitting at the check in waiting for some miraculous sign telling it to be delivered.
