For an electric I don't think I would go any cheaper than the Solis which is a fine machine. The Zass aren't really that cheap and if you need to grind for several people it can be a pain. Also their QC ain't that good and their newer machines (if mine is an example) is better left for a display piece.
I am looking for an inexpensive burr grinder for my espresso. Any suggestions
thanks for the help...ill keep poking around until I find something I can afford...didnt realize they were so expensive...thought I could find a hand one at a cheaper price.
Frankly, I would rather put my whole beans in a plastic bag and stomp on them with the heal of my boot than spend my money on that specific grinder with the intent of using it for espresso (or drip, or french press, or vac-pot).
Just my $.02.
Lets put it this way, water coming out of the faucet in my kitchen flowed slower than the espresso coming out of my new gaggia! The finest grind on this grinder doesn't come close to being small enough to make the Gaggia happy. I recommend that you choose something else. Otherwise, you will no doubt be like me (looking for a good way to throw this over the side of a bridge) while on the way to the store to get a replacement!
