In praise of Syngent

I'm sure the majority of you know who Syngent is. For those of you who don't, he is a new steward of the Nib, a great member here, a tireless learner of all things Gothic script, excellent letter writer and great friend.

I mean look at this letter!

The care, the thought, the effort, the gorgeous script. It brightens my day immeasurably to get something so thoughtfully crafted from someone I've only ever communicated with online and through letters, but never actually met. Just thought I should share something beautiful like this, consider this thread my virtual refrigerator:laugh:

P.s...sorry if this floods your inbox with a barrage of pen-pal requests, James!

edit: sorry the pic looks washed out in sections, I couldn't get it to lay flat whilst taking the picture.

Geeez Louise, now every ones gonna want a letter like that Ed, that letter fought me for a bit while i was getting used to writing with that Nib and crazy sparkle ink, but by the end it turned out okay, I think Marks letter which i wrote right behind it was all the better for the practice.

Its funny how this place works, I look to others who inspire me to do better and be creative and improve, People look at my writing in the same way, and some day others will look to theirs and so on

I loves me this community, specially when i get a gold star and make it on the fridge

Ed, his writing has improved, immensely since he first started and he is doing a great job with it and a great job here on the NIB!
Well done, James!

Doug did it to me Thu'um its only fair I inflict the disease on others lol...btw the gear I used to do that was around $6.20 about a buck for the nib another buck and a bit for the holder and 4 and change for that crazy ink

Yes his pen techniques have improved greatly over time. He now gets the ink on the paper instead of his cat:thumbup1:

First thing I thought of when I saw that: "Someone is going to pick that up one day, and think it is something SUPER old. Probably going to see that on Antique Road Show or something, 'Yup, found it in my Dad's filing cabinet, looks old.. probably in our family for generations. Was this the first use of glitter?'"
