In need of a good moisturizing shampoo

I haven't been able to find my go-to shampoo in stores lately, and I believe it may be discontinued. It was Sunsilk's Hydra TLC. My hair grows very thick and can be very dry, so it tends to go "poof" without some seriously strong shampoo/conditioner. I would like to hear suggestions if you have/had similar hair problems.

Hi- I also had the same problem. I've started using Nexxus Therrpe moisturing shampoo and conditioner and so far I am VERY impressed.

My Mom gave me a bottle of Papoutsanis Olivia shampoo recently. It has a good dose of olive oil, and does a great job of counteracting my winter dryness/high-chlorine-water hair problems. Lush's Coolaulin conditioner works really well for afters. My hair is really thin and doesn't go "poof" without serious work, but my husband has thick, stiff hair, and he gets a lot of mileage from Lush's Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo. Not sure how it does with dryness, but it did give his hair some weight and kept it from standing up like a bottle brush.

I've had really good luck using tea tree oil shampoo. I know its available at any health food store, and probably at places like Wal-Mart or any of the bigger supermarkets.

I would keep away from the Lush conditioners. They contain SLS which can be drying to your hair. I use American Cream right now, and I grab for my cheap food store conditioners instead since they work better.

One of my favourite shampoo/conditioner combinations at the moment is the banana line from The Bodyshop. It works great with my sensitive scalp, gives my hair the moisture it needs, does not make it so light that it pouffs but doesn't weigh it down so it seems limp either. Just perfect, if you can stand the smell of ripe banana. :biggrin1:

For when my hair is really misbehaving, seeming dry, I like to do a deep oil and aloe vera treatment over night. Just soak your hair in a vegetable oil like olive oil, then slather on the aloe vera, put on a bathcap or towel (or both) and go to bed and wash out in the morning. Happy, well moisturised hair no matter what shampoo you use or almost, something resembling dishwasher liquid is not recommended ;).

I used to have a problem with dry hair, and then I switched to a JR Liggett shampoo bar. After a week or two, I stopped having problems.

American Crew daily mousturizing shampoo is the best. I also have that type of hair, thick and curly and it can get really frizzy.

AC at the end is really not that expensive, the big bottle (33.8 oz) costs $22 but lasts forever. I have medium-length hair and after 6 months I am not even half way through the bottle. Of course the shorter your hair is, the less product it requires.
