Impossible to have only 1 aftershave?

It just seems impossible to narrow it down to only one aftershave. I can do it for any other product genre, but aftershaves is the only one that it just doesn't make sense personally. Am I alone or wrong in this thinking?

You're not alone, and you're not wrong.

I'm sure there are those folks out there who enjoy a bottle of AV and that's their one and only. It's not for me, though. I like having at least a couple different Scotches and Bourbons around, and the same goes for my aftershaves.

I agree. I need to have Proraso, Speick, and Musgo Real in my aftershave rotation at all times.

I wouldn't want to limit myself to one aftershave or one shaving soap. Scent is a major part of the joy I get out of wet shaving, and my preferences change depending on what mood I'm in and what my day has in store. My regular aftershave stock includes Speick, 4711, Alt-Innsbruck, DRH Marlborough, DRH Arlington, Yardley lavender, SCS Sandalwood, DRH Pink, Sandalwood skinfood, Proraso, Osage rub, Booster's June Clover, and L'Occitane Cade (until the last drop is gone). I could easily drop a few of those from rotation, but I can't see having fewer than six different aftershave splashes under my sink.

I'm currently in the throes of SSAD so I'm only using generic Witch Hazel as an AS. The SOTD threads have started me thinking about alternatives (Alt-Insbruck, Aqua Velva, Musgo, DR Harris, etc.).

I think it's going to get expensive. It's next to impossible to stick with 1 of anything if you're hanging around B&B.

I've always been immune to acquisition syndromes of any kind, but I'm sorely tempted by aftershaves. Still, I've kept it down to a minimum...
Pinaud Clubman
Aqua Velva
Old Spice Classic (I'm on a horse!)
Ogallala Bay Rum
Master's Bay Rum
Booster's Lime

...so far.

I hope there's a support group out there, just in case. :001_rolle

I can't imagine it. At the very LEAST, I would want a spring/summer splash and a balm for fall/winter when my skin gets dry.

I have 4 soaps, 3 creams, 5 razors and 2 brushes but ASAD has me holding 17 aftershaves :w00t:

Which ones you ask?

Provence Sante Verlaine, Old Spice, Pinaud Bay Rum, Royall Mandarin, Pinaud Citrus Musk, Pinaud Eau de Quinine, Florida Water, 4711, Tabac, Cade, Herbissimo Mountain Juniper, Alt-Innsbruck, Alpa 378, Old Spice Fresh Lime, Barbon, Dominica Bay Rum & Spirit Goat Bay Rum balm.

I didn't expect to have so many aftershaves. I think to myself: how am I going to finish all these aftershaves? It'll take a life time! And the wife only likes five of the numerous aftershaves I have. I like all of them. :biggrin1:
And I think I'll keep buying more aftershaves. I need professional help.

One aftershave, Two words. Alt Innsbruck. I used to rotate until i discovered that, now it's all i ever use

Technically it is possible, it's what I have been doing the last year - a single ASB for cold(Speick) and a single AS for not-cold weather (TOBS Eton). But I do agree, that having one or two more could make it a bit more enjoyable.. :)

I could limit myself to 1 aftershave but why??

I think I can't live without

MG5, Proraso, Vintage and maybe Brut...

ONE aftershave????

But... why?

(Admittedly, I have a number of serious Acquisition Problems - ASAP *heh* among 'em.)

Just one for me...generic witch hazel.

I prefer variety in cologne and find AS + cologne to be too much stink most of the time.

Geez you guys aren't much help.

I guess it truly is impossible. If that's the case then what is a reasonable number? By that I mean not having a clutter bomb on the sink.

I could get by with 3 (the ones I listed above), though that's probably a low number by other guys' standards.
