I'm staying at my Father-in-law's house right now. We're here for a wedding and they don't have a water softener like we do back home. Wow! What a difference. The water here is not overly hard but it's noticeably harder than our softened water. It took a lot more soap to make my lather this morning but I still had a great shave. I'm spoiled. I miss my soft water.

now you'll bring a gallon of your soft water with you when you travel for shaving use.
You can get distilled water at most pharmacies.
When I travel for work, I typically stay at the same hotels. And pretty much all of them use hard water, probably to save money. It's a pain to get a good shave. Even when the lather looks good, it just doesn't lubricate like it does with my softened water at home. My shave feels rough and unpleasant, and sometimes leaves me with razor burn. I hate it...
You should come to Vancouver to see how soft the water is! Any time i go back to see my folks in Ontario, i struggle to get a good lather!
