What's new

I'm a softy....

I love soft soaps! I got some Valobra and some Cella is on the way! That is all!

Valobra is a true luxury and I am getting some of the best shaves of my life!

I've decided exactly the opposite. The hard milled soaps work better for me. I guess that's why they make so many different kinds!!

Just got both Valobra Almond and Valobra Menthol this week. Haven't used Almond yet, but Menthol is treating me well.

I haven't yet tried the soft Valobra, but I love Cella - great stuff. Cella is supposedly the oldest shave soap that is still being sold in its original formulation. So it has that charm about it.

Valobra is quite nice (the stick is even better). But, I found the Cella not very protective.

I agree with this. When I first tried Cella I was REALLY into it. I couldn't believe how outrageously thick the lather was. Then after some more continued use I discovered that I was feeling razor burn on my face throughout the day, which I haven't felt for a long time after switching to tallow soaps.

I have since gone back to Tabac and the razor burn has been eliminated. Cella just is not protective.

Per ChrisG's post, if you use a little less water and make a thicker lather, it should take care of that. I did exactly that this morning and got an awesome and comfortable shave. For some reason i had started to thin out the lather with too much water and was getting some of the irritation. Now I'm back to thinking Cella is one of the best soaps around.
