What's new

I'll never tell...

any of you guys where I live. In the last six days from one antique shop in my home town I have purchased a 1937 Sheraton, a 1971 (my birth year) SS, and today a 1958 TV special SS with the case. Total investment?... $6.00, that's right $2.00 each, plus tax of course. Sorry to rub it in, but I had to tell someone, nobody around here gives a flip about these razors. The girl at the shop today even asked me " Are sure you want to pay $2.00 for this thing?" I probably could have got it for .50 but what with kharma and all I paid full asking price.:biggrin1:

People don't know. Almost every time I've picked up a vintage Gillette, the seller has asked, "They still make blades for those things?" I have paid less than $5 apiece on average for my growing stable of razors, and that includes multiple Red Tips, Slim Adjustables, and Fatboys.

My luck has to run out soon...either that or everyone will find out you can still shave with them.

As long as people are force fed the notion that the ONLY way to shave is with a $5 cartage and some chemical goo you dont have to worry about this at all. Older folkes will sell them off as they find them or buy into this notion, and the rest of the world will pass them to us convinced that they are just junk. God bless mass media.

Excellent finds! How is does the open comb shave? I'v been tempted to pick one of them up if I find one.

It shaves very close, probably shouldn't have used a Feather for my first go with it but, it was more forgiving than my Merkur with the same blade.

Thanks for the skinny on the razor. I love your quote too. Snatch is an amazing movie. At work when something goes wrong the first person that notices quotes "Boris dont worry about the dog" and whoever is working next to them says "I'm not". There are so many good quotes in that film.

"When I give a dog a bone, I don't want to know how it tastes":biggrin1:
