Do you mind expanding a bit about the shoulders? IIRC my NI "Bostonian" and Tuckaway are the same.

If you compare the top of the base plates, the late one has a narrower flat portion (identical to the New LC/De Luxe).
The original Ni design was so prone to crack the blade, that they had to address this issue and came up with the narrower flat (iIrc it didn't help too much, the real solution came with the slotted blade).
