igoogle replacement

Well, the day is soon approaching when igoogle will be no more. I've been trying to find a replacement that will offer some security since I'll give up my gmail password (unless there is an alternative.)

Has anyone found a good substitute?

iGoogle is my landing page too. Unfortunately, I have not found a suitable substitute.

In my opinion, igHome has been a perfect replacement. I have used it since Google first announced iGoogle's impending demise.

EDIT: Below is a picture of mine. It only takes a few minutes to set up. All of the gadgets that iGoogle has (I have Google News, Deal Book, Lifehacker, Gizmodo, ESPN, and BBC News), igHome has as well.

At the risk of mockery and incredulous exclamations, what is/was iGoogle and why will we miss it? As you can tell, I am not a social media type. If indeed this is what it was about.

Cheers, Todd

I haven't found a good replacement. I don't like Ighome because it doesn't work well with the email or calendar. I used to have the preview section open in iGoogle. and could see my top 5 emails as well as all events for today and tomorrow. Ighome doesn't seem to do that nearly as well. Ighome does have the links to Gmail and eMail at the top, but so does google.

Netvibes is pretty workable. But I've just moved on from iGoogle. I use Feedly for RSS, and Chrome extensions to get email and calendar notifications that used to be in more of a "dashboard" with iGoogle.

Not sure, but I think it has something to do with the Apple iPhone.

Nope, nothing with Apple. It was just a home page that you could set that was part of google. You could add all the widgets or apps to it you wanted and could see everything like news feeds, calendar, email, weather, updates, etc all on one screen. Like your own personal portal page. I used it for many years.

The two issues I have with ighome.com is the weather widget does not allow you to put in multiple cities and you can only add one email account.

I have tried netvibes, ighome and protopage. Didn't care for any of them. Last month I switched my homepages over to Google News. With the quick access box it is easy enough to check email, weather, calendar, etc. After a month, I do not even miss iGoogle.

This may not be a solution that suites you, but you could have all of your e-mail automatically forwarded to one Gmail account.
