If you had to use it, what would be your preferred bar (bath) soap to lather with for your shave?

Stirling really is good bath soap. I have a number of bars waiting in reserve!
Don't pay that, what a rip-off! They cost $2 on the shelf at Whole Foods Market, or elsewhere on amazon, even.
What search did you do to find it? I can't find that price on Amazon. I'm interested in the coffee scented one. Care to share a link? Thanks.
Search for "365 glycerin soap 4 ounce". I have used the grapefruit one and the lavender one. I've also seen cucumber, unscented, aloe vera, vitamin E and olive oil ones. I don't remember seeing a coffee scent, though.
There's also a Neutrogena unscented glycerin soap that is not expensive, but good.
I don't know how it would perform but for the scent...vintage Irish Spring.
A good cocoa butter soap like Mama Bear's. I would also skip the brush; just make a good lather in my goatee and spread by hand.

I’d use Arko for bath soap. I heard the chicks dig it but can’t confirm it.
That's been my experience.
I have shaved with a straight razor and yardley of London bar soap and it works well imo. The Billy Hukin shave video is an inspiration.
I shave with bath soap every day. I use whatever is around, usually Irish Spring or Dove. When the two are combined a magnificent lather results.
"Too bad it doesn't smell as good as Arko" is what I'll bet you were thinking!
Living in the US Midwest (i.e. farm country) I could only wish that cow dung smelled as fantastic as Arko!
Better than pigs any day though. That smell burrows under your skin and will ruin a date night.
You are correct my friend. Even Lilac Vegetal is one step ahead of pig dung.

Martin de Candre 4-oil Marseilles soap. So slick a wet bar will slide off your counter or soap saver if it isn’t perfectly level. No lather though.
Pears classic soap but it can leave your face oily.( Used to chip it up and mix with Colgate or Williams ,was pretty good)
