Ice Water for Final Rinse Anyone?

I learned the benefits of a cold water rinse long ago but realized that in N. Fla. the tap water doesn't get too cold in the summer. I started putting ice in a big bowl with some water right before I get in the shower. After all whiskers have been removed, I've rinsed with warm water, rinsed the brush, and cleaned my scuttle, I do a final rinse with the ice cold water before the alum, etc. It feels so refreshing! Before anyone invites me to the dark side of cold water shaving, I must confess that I love hot lather and a warm steamy bathroom while I'm shaving.

So, does anyone not living in an environment with ice cold tap water voluntarily rinse with said water?

I always cold water shave but avoid extreme temperatures, hot or cold. I will cool down summer tap water, if it is warm or tepid. Have no concern; you do not qualify for the dark side cult of cold shavers.

Haven't used ice water, but cold water after a shave is always good for closing up pores and helping relieve any razor burn.

I'm a Florida shaver as well, and I've been experimenting with ice water in a bowl and also ice directly on the skin. Although I'm concerned putting ice directly on the skin might have too drastic of an effect.

I use warm water and scuttle for my shave then rinse with cold water, apply alum and then use ice water or just an ice cube on my face to shrink all the pores and stop any weepers. Highly recommended.

i don't believe extreme hot (boiling) or extreme cold (ice water) is good for anything. not for the lather, brush or face.

Your habit of using ice water sounds like a great idea! I have long been a fan of an icy towel right out of the freezer post shave, it feels phenominal. After reading this thread, I decided to try an ice cube rub instead of ice water (just to try different things) and it felt amazing. So slick, smooth and cold. There is nothing more refreshing than a super cold end to a luxuriously warm shave.

My tap water at home is plenty cold, but I have done this with good results at a time share with too-tepid cold water from the tap.

I rinse with cold water and if I feel the need will rub an ice cube on my face. No need to make a sink full of ice water when all you need is a cube

One of the pleasures of visiting relatives with a vacation cabin in northern Vermont is that the well is over 300 feet deep. There is little that feels better in life on a warm summer day to splash water that feels like it came out of the refrigerator on your post shave face.

I let the tap water get as cold as possible and use it. In the summer that's not particularly cold but I live with it.

My water is cold enough for me right out of the tap. More so in the winter time.
I love the snap it gives you.

It was an unexpected trip to the northwoods of Wisconsin in February that reminded me just how cold water could be from a tap. I recreated February Wisconsin tap water in North Florida in my own special way with ice water.
