I Want to Try a Slantbar.

After reading through this forum for a couple of weeks I see that a lot of people really like Slantbars. I would love to get one, but after the plating issues with my other Merkurs I don't want to buy another.

Are there any other Slantbars on the market?

Nope, but you could look for a vintage slant. Most (all?) were made by merkur, but many were marketed under other names -- Cole, Hoffritz, etc. Better QC back in the day, I suppose.

What plating issues did you have. I have a Merkur 34C and a Merkur slant. Both are great and I have had no issues. FYI, when using a slant use a sharp blade too, like a feather.

If you want to buy new, then it's a Merkur for you. However, the BST has a nice Hoffritz slant razor for sale. However, it has plating issues as well. C'est la vie!

I've had nothing but nice stuff delivered to me every time I bought a new Merkur.

I have a gold merkur slant and have had no plating issues.
