I Used Barrister & Mann Solstic This Morning. Intersting Scent, Super Performance

Gents, my package of B&M samples arrived yesterday and I knew before they arrived I was going to use Solstice first. It is an interesting scent. I noted mostly only the peppermint. I did not pick up the lemon or black pepper. It was light in scent and I wish the other two scent partners would have been present in an equal amount. Good but not intoxicating like Vetiver, Heater, and Clary Sage. Performance was another issue. SUPERB was the order of the day. I used a Feather with two shaves on it and the results were quite good. Great glide, easy lathering, and no aftershave needed. We'll see how it fares by the end of the sample.

Cheers, Todd

The samples do last a good long time.... I've only used the Bay Rum thus far. Basically cinnamon, barely detectable vanilla. Extremely good performer, however. I'm going with the Heather/Vetiver/CS next. I got a puck of the Cheshire, blind, too. But a good forum friend sent me samples of MdC and Stirling .... and I've got several full tins of Mike's and even more tubs of Strop Shoppe... and that's not everything. Maybe 3017 time for me.

i liked the solstice but its not my fav. I absolutely loved the vetiver and the Cheshire . I'll probably still buy the solstice anyway :)

Another thing I like about using samples of these softer soaps is how fast they get used up. Honestly, shave soaps are grand bargains anyway considering cost per shave. I like the smaller cakes so I can get through one and have an excuse to buy or start another. Strop Shoppe makes 3oz. cakes and eventually I would like to see the others take up this idea. Well, maybe. These soaps are softer and you go through them a bit faster. Who knows? All I care about is the fact that as a wet shaver I am being spoiled rotten by the selection these days.

I bought two of those 3 oz. tubs. One I've given away in very generous sets of samples. The other I still have, and it's very soft indeed ("double butter"), but... it's still lasting and lasting and lasting and lasting.

I think Barrister and Mann is making some of the best shave soaps around. They have quickly taken the top spot in my Shave Den and Solstice is one of my favorites . Everyone should give these soaps a try.

I was just thinking this the other day. I would love to size 1/2 size or less pucks (without the price per oz going up!). I would definitely buy more soaps. Right now I have 3 pucks and I feel like they could easily last a year, so I'm not buying anything new at the moment. I'd love to try some soaps that I haven't gotten to, but don't want a ton of soaps taking up space.

I ordered Solstice, Cheshire, Seville, and Vetiver/Heather/Clary Sage from them recently. The performance is good. I don't think it's anything to write home about. I really don't like any of the scents.

I used this again this morning. Great shave. Probably not quite in the ultimate range of Mystic but superb nonetheless. I am still not sold on the fragrance. Certainly not a bad scent but I only really get the mild mint part with a bit of the lemon sneaking through once in awhile. I will be trying some of the other scents this week.

Cheer,s, Todd

I bought a few tubs of Barrister/Mann about a month ago. I ordered the barbershop accord (Seville) and a tub of the Vetiver, Heather, Clary Sage. I like latter best, in fact, I PIF'd the Seville, I found that it was a tad too strong for me, scentwise but the vetiver/heather/clary sage is right up my alley. It's seeing regular use in my rotation. No complaints with it. Seems to do everything I want a shave soap to do for me

Best,

I ordered the sampler and after one shave I ordered pucks of Cheshire, Ferox, Lime Lavender Cedarwood & Seville. Haven't added the Seville to my rotation yet but it will soon. Great performer and I find most of the scents to my liking. The Bay Rum does have too much cinammon for my liking and I do wish the Lime and Lavender were more prominent on the LLC but those are minor qualms. I have a sample of the Solstice which intrigues me. I hope they still have it in stock when they have their next holiday sale.

I can see where you might find Solstice a bit of a disappointment if you aren't picking up the black pepper and lemon scents. They're both there to my nose, though more subtly than the mint and rose scents. It's a really complex fragrance, and one that's unlike anything else I've found. I love the stuff but, as always, YMMV.

Agreed. In fact, I often find myself thinking about Barrister & Mann as I'm using other products. It's just that good!
