What's new

I think I'm coming down with a case of SAD.

I started wet shaving at the beginning of the year and moved to a straight razor in February and up until this month I only had one or two soaps at a time. Lately I've been going a bit nuts and the only thing stopping me is my bank account balance! Just ordered some Petal Pusher Fancies Sandalwood, have a handful of samples to go through (Tabac, MWF, Panna Crema, Cella), got 2 tins of Mikes, D.R. Harris Windsor, Arko, Speick... I feel like I may be missing something. And this is just in the past 2 weeks. I told myself I'd never be the guy with too many brushes, razors, or soaps.... Well I'm turning into the guy with too many soaps! And I still majorly want to pick up some Calani, MdC, and B&M soap!

I'd better slow down so I can afford some Christmas gifts.

Do you have I Coloniali, or one of the RazoRock karite soaps, or Institut Karite? If not, you know what to do.

Been there and totally understand. The only thing that has saved me was getting MdC. Suddenly I found I was using that soap 4 days a week and others were being delegated to once a month. At that point I have kept with the five others and said only new one when I finish an old one, or send it to my brother. He said he has one large collection of shaving creams now thanks to me. Wonder if he needs more? Good luck. It is a daily fight.

You are a textbook example of an enabler, sir... And I haven't heard of that first one, so I'll have to do some digging!

If only I could just get samples of everything. It'd be so much less expensive to try them all!

Check out Maggard Razors, they have "build your own" sample packages. I just got 23 samples from them and they were excellent to deal with.

I feel your pain. I have enough soap and cream already to last me a couple of years, but I'm worried about getting and trying the ones I don't have. MWF, MDC, DRH, Cade.... :facep:

Not that impressed with MWF so far. I actually still felt dry on my face after using it. Mike's was a better skin conditioner for me. D.R. Harris performs quite well. Haven't tried Cade or MdC, yet, but MdC is at the absolute TOP of my list. Calani is up there also. Most of what I have is Tallow based so I want to compare more Vegan soaps for my next few.

Great choices on soaps, many amazing products in there. Where did you get your samples if I may ask?

I can identify with OP :001_rolle

After years & years of falling for every lousy canned goo on the market (since the 1960s!) I have flipped out over the soaps, creams and crops available out there for us since 2011.

So I joined the 2012 GRUC (2012 Sept to Dec Sabbatical) and the 2013 Sabbatical to slooooow it down and to stop & smell the soaps :001_tt1:

That said, I will now pick up a couple in 2014 to just plain enjoy.

I totally understand, I use MWF on Fat Tuesday and Tabac followed by the Veg on Sunday, my hardest decisions are which soaps to use the other 5 days.

Garry's Sample Shop. He's a good guy, too. As he gets more soaps to try out I'm sure I'll do more business with him again. I'm hoping he gets some MdC so I can sample it before making a full order of it.
