What's new

I think I killed a Wee Scott!

When I went home for Christmas I stuck my Wee Scott in a small pill bottle and took it along. Unfortunately, I was in a hurry and didn't take the time to drill holes in the bottle before I left. When I packed up to come home I thought the brush was dry, so I stuck it back in the bottle, threw it in my dopp kit and forgot all about it.

Well, tonight I thought it would be nice to get it out and use it, and that's when I discovered that it apparently wasn't as dry as I thought it was when I packed it, and now it's all moldy. :crying:

Does anyone have any suggestions for how I might save the poor little fellow? Or should I hold a funeral service and move on?

Borax/commercial mold killer weak solution, brush through gently, then dry in direct sunlight before freezing, mold spores arn't healthy especially wedging a brush up your nose with them on....

+1. Mold spores are tough to get rid of. A mild bleach solution (5 to 10% ???) would work too. I don't know how good it would be for the brush, though.

Go to your local Disaster Restoration company (i.e. servicemaster, servepro) ask for some Mold disinfectant (i.e. MicroBan or SaniMaster). Go 1:3 with water soak it in it for a few minutes then shampoo like you wold for a new brush and let dry for a few days.

Not sure how safe the bleach would be on the bristles.... but if it's knackered then whats the harm in trying.

I've decided that this entire thread is best read in a Groundskeeper Willy voice.

Best of luck with the demoldification!

I say just use it uncleaned and go for it. There is a good chance it is the mold that makes Penicillin...in which case you will find your knicks and razor burn heal a lot faster!!!
