What's new

I think I got 2 English Rockets (one golden)

I recently got 2 Gillette razors made in England, they look the same (one golden and one nickel?), weight is 63.5gr and both say Pat Pending. The golden razor came from Canada and neither has a case.
If I am wrong on their ID, I would welcome some input (I looked at pictures on the net).

You're right. The nickel one could possibly have come from an Aristocrat Jr set that had the Rocket head.

Congrats on the score! Tried 'em yet?

Tried both today, the golden was not very smooth (I have to put glasses and verify that it is aligned) , the other was a bit smoother, got good face/head shaves. Will try same new blade next time, too.

Rockets are better than Super Speeds IMO. They are better designed, feel more solid and are a touch more efficient. Rocket HDs and Aristocrats are the best but I am also partial to the late '40s Super Speed and the President.

I have a Flare Tip Super Speed made in England, which seems fairly rare.

Technically both are 3rd gen. Aristocrat Jr.-s, but these were marketed as Rocket in Canada (only).

How heavy is the gold coloured one? Could be the anniversary set .. I am not aware of a made in England gold coloured Aristocrat Jr.

Nickel one is the later Aristocrat Jr.

The gold is thin in the handle, gone in the upper doors and was good looking inside tray and below (which were not cleaned before I got it.....). My guess: who ever sold it, just cleaned it with some abrasive.....except the base.....
