After 5 1/2 years of wetshaving I had the most incredible shave this morning. I was literally shocked. I lathered with Mike's Natural Soap (orange, cedarwood, pepper), and used the Weber ARC with a Gillette 7OC Black blade. It was the fourth shave with the blade. I hardly felt the blade on the first pass. I even went ATG on my neck during the first pass and the razor almost felt like it was gliding. I am still in shock. The second pass was even smoother. No blood, no irritation. The overall shave was exceptionally close, and yet there was no aftershave sting (Froid Vigoroso). This was one of those newbie-like moments when I just kept saying WOW with every stroke.
Although I am aware that this resulted from the combo of lather, blade and razor, I wish I could be certain which contributed most. At this point, I vote for either the razor or Mike's soap as this blade, as excellent as it is, has never given me this smooth a shave. It reminded my of when I first used the R89 after 3-4 years of using the 38C and the Futur. That was another WOW moment.
I am aware that everyone's MMV, but I had to tell someone about this. Hopefully no one thinks I am disparaging other shaving implements mentioned.
