What's new

I rediscovered an old friend.

The weather is cold and quite nasty here in the DFW area this weekend, and unfortunately I had an outdoor funeral to attend this morning. I put on a suit, and looked in the back of my closet and saw my old tan London Fog "Inspector Gadget" style trenchcoat from my college days in the late 80's. I hadn't worn that thing in at least 20 years. I dusted off the shoulders (embarassing, I know...) and it still fit perfectly over my suit. The Thinsulate-lined coat kept me nice and warm during the hour-long funeral service, and looked quite dapper.

I tend to dress relatively casual, with work attire primarily consisting of chinos and a dress shirt or polo with the occasional sport coat. I like a leather jacket, an old LLBean Field Coat or Eddie Bauer wool lined parka when it gets really cold. It's nice to know that old friend was still there to bail me out today when I needed to go more upscale. I'm glad I didn't relegate it a thrift store bag over the years.

Cheers,

I've got an old Oscar De La Renta like that, microfiber shell, zip-in liner, detachable suede collar...paid like $200 for it back in the late 90's. It's really good to know you have something dapper and warm for foul weather in the closet!
And YES it was cold and damp this weekend in DFW!

Trenchcoats were designed for some of the nastier weather on earth in field conditions, yet still look somewhat 'good' with an officer uniform. London Fog keeps the tradition alive.
