Hi Guys,

I've collected around 50 razors including Fat Boys, Slims, Aristocrats, 30s 40s 50s, English and USA, Super Speeds, English and USA as well as most of the monor English brands (I decided to cut my collection down to English only), Schicks, Slants, modern Merkurs, Edwin Jagger and Muhle in the modern models. In short, I've tried a lot.

Every time though, I go back to my Eclipse Red Stripe - I just cannot get a better shave, regardless of blade. IMHO this is one very underrated and unknown razors around - I now have 6 of them!

Made in Sheffield from about 1930 to 1945 (I think)

Points of note (other than being a grat shaver are):

Chrome rather than nickel plated (unusual for early razors)
Somewhere between open comb and closed guard bar
magnet in base of handle for picking up blade
2 piece

That's because you're hogging them all.
I've found them hard to come by and your post isn't helping, you've probably jacked up the price on e-bay 300%.

Very nice razor, once you fine "the one" unless you are a ravenous collector then yah, it would be a good idea to simplify.

As far as E-bay prices - Meh, there's always a little kick in prices when someone mentions something shiney and exotic.

I'm rather intrigued by the idea of a magnet in the base of the handle.
I have some 3/16 by 1/8 magnets left over from another project and I think I'm going to mount one in the knob of a BM handle and see how it works.

Just trying to give an unknown razor a bit of publicity. I have 6 because I wanted one of each model for my English collection - (each has different packaging) and if you really want one, you won't mind paying the market value on the bay - it's all about supply and demand

Number 6 douesn't have any packaging at all - so I may sell that one

This is what is properly called a closed comb. The teeth are joined at both ends. Safety bar razors are often mistakenly called closed comb.

I just bought mine about a week and a half got her from the bay. It came with a 1918 combination set. I thought it was a Merkur from the pictures in the bay.

Anyway I paid 16 pounds with shipping.

Not bad I think, considering it came with an old Gillette set.

It was adverstised as Gillette shaving set, and I was the sole bidder....
I guess I was in the right place at the right time.

. . . or about inflated prices based on comments made on the shave boards. When someone posts a glowing review of some razor or blade in limited supply, prices are always jacked. Proof: Personna 74. It is why I no longer comment on NOS blades.

And "market value" and "eBay" should never be used in the same sentence, unless an ironic effect is intended.
